The end of the year traditionally makes way for the final SAP SuccessFactors release. So what does this mean for Analytics & Learning? Let’s find out below!

ANALYTICS

SAP’s focus for the 2021 H2 release for reporting and analytics was again Report Story. Still, there are updates to other tools as well which are worth mentioning. Tables created with the Report Canvas tool now no longer require the legacy scheduling tool for scheduling to Excel or CSV file (not applicable for email attachment scheduling).

SAP also decided to remove the mobile reporting tile, as it was found slow and non-responsive at times. For Stories, there is now the ability to report on Notes created in People Profile and reporting on custom sections in the People Profile, while query validation is announced for January 2022.

There is also a tool independent update, with the addition of time zone independent fields. Date/Time fields which are time zone dependent now have a ‘Timestamp’ suffix. Time zone independent date/time fields now have a “Date” suffix.

LEARNING

The LMS module has two major updates in the 2021 H2 release.

The first major update is the Virtual Learning System integration with MS Teams. It has become more important than ever to place learning in the immediate context of employees’ day-to-day activities. Users and instructors will be able to launch Teams meetings from their class registration or from a link in the registration email. In addition automatic recording of attendance for item completion will be available when users attain the attendance threshold.

The second major update is the Deprecation of the Learning Native Login. SAP is planning on removing the SAP SuccessFactors Learning Native Login and replace it with Identity Authentication Services (IAS). In this way SAP wants to improve security and ensure continued access to the latest SAP SuccessFactors improvements. The good news is that Learning native login pages (via Sites or general Native Login page) will remain with the same URL. It is only the system logic to verify a user’s access credentials (such as username and password) are valid, that will be replaced with Identity Authentication. This update will be available in the preview environment as of January and the migration should be complete by First Half 2022.

IN CONCLUSION

Whether changes and updates with each release are either big or small, we truly believe that these will keep on improving your user experience with the SF platform step by step.
